About This Project

100 Queen Street — Melbourne

The roof of ANZ’s 100 Queen Street has two very large BMU’s that were originally designed and manufactured in Australia. Like all items of machinery, the time comes when a major overhaul is required to keep the units in service. The project has included removing the traction winches in one of the units and having them air freighted to the Europe for refurbishment by the original manufacturer.

GDP have also replaced the hoisting ropes, completed weather proofing works, redesigned and replaced the platforms and access systems and repainted the units. The hydraulics were also upgraded, which required the removal of cylinders. With the assistance of our engineer, we were able to devise a methodology to winch the cylinders from the roof using the other BMU.

GDP continue to work with ANZ & JLL, offering our experience and knowledge to extend the life of their BMU’s.
